Temporary Commission hears State Minister on peace policy and de-occupation issues
The State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civil Equality, Tea Akhvlediani, presented a report during a closed-door session of the Temporary Commission on the Restoration of Territorial Integrity and De-occupation.
During the meeting, the State Minister outlined key approaches and new initiatives within the peace policy framework and responded to questions from commission members.
“At the session, we thoroughly discussed the progress made in implementing the state’s reconciliation and peacekeeping policies, as well as the challenges stemming from the ongoing illegal occupation of the Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions.
The report highlighted two priority areas: first, enhancing youth engagement in peacebuilding and supporting related initiatives; and second, the progress of the program to search for persons missing from the conflicts of the 1990s and the 2008 Russia-Georgia war, carried out in cooperation with the Red Cross,” said Akhvlediani.
According to the State Minister, continued collaboration between Parliament and her office will further strengthen joint efforts toward the shared goal of restoring territorial integrity.
Giorgi Volski, Chair of the Commission and First Deputy Chair of Parliament, noted that the State Minister presented initiatives for advancing peace policy, which were actively discussed during the Q&A session.
