State Minister, ICRC, and Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau meet

Led by the State Minister of Georgia for Reconciliation and Civil Equality, Tea Akhvlediani, a working meeting was convened between the Office of the State Minister, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), and the Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Bureau.

The State Minister emphasised the critical importance of the humanitarian effort to locate missing persons, a process rooted in the aftermath of the armed conflicts of the 1990s and the Russo-Georgian war of August 2008, and stressed the need to ensure its ongoing sustainability.

The parties reviewed the outcomes of their intensive cooperation, including current issues related to the ongoing programme transformation process, which is informed by the conclusions and recommendations of the ICRC’s strategic study. Taking into account priority areas, they also planned specific future steps.

The meeting, held at the government administration, was attended by Giorgi Murvanidze, Head of the LEPL Levan Samkharauli National Forensic Expertise Bureau.
