State Minister for Reconciliation holds introductory meeting with UNHCR Representative to Georgia
Georgia’s State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality, Tea Akhvlediani, has held an introductory meeting with Anna Rich, the newly appointed Head of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) representation in Georgia.
The State Minister briefed the guest on the progress made and future visions for implementing the reconciliation and engagement policy. This policy aims to improve the socio-economic conditions of conflict-affected populations, whilst fostering dialogue and building trust based on shared interests between artificially divided communities.
During the meeting, the sides reviewed the severe humanitarian and human rights situation in the occupied regions. In this context, they underscored the vital role and engagement of the UNHCR in assisting those affected by the conflict.
For her part, the new representative, Anna Rich, expressed her support for the State Minister’s Office’s work and reaffirmed her full readiness to cooperate in the future.
