Tbilisi Mayor meets Lombardy region leadership in Milan

During his visit to Milan, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze met with the President of the Lombardy Region, Attilio Fontana, and Vice-President Raffaele Cattaneo.

According to Tbilisi City Hall, the discussions focused on Georgian-Italian relations, opportunities for cooperation, and current and future joint projects.

At the meeting, Kaladze highlighted Milan as his second home, where he lived for many years, and expressed his commitment to strengthening ties between Tbilisi and Milan.

“There is significant potential for expanding cooperation between our cities—in culture, tourism, green urban planning, waste management, transportation, and more. As Mayor of Tbilisi, I am fully committed to deepening this partnership. The Lombardy Region plays a key role in Italy’s economic development, and I would like to invite you, along with representatives of the local business community, to visit Tbilisi. Georgia and its capital offer excellent opportunities for investment and business. I believe our cooperation can bring mutual benefit,” said Kaladze.

Lombardy President Attilio Fontana thanked Kaladze for his visit and expressed interest in organizing a business delegation to Tbilisi.

“We are pleased with today’s meeting with the Mayor of Tbilisi. The recent opening of the Georgian Consulate in Milan has already led to growing business relations. Lombardy is one of the most economically advanced regions not only in Italy but across Europe, with strong agricultural, industrial, and commercial sectors. We are eager to deepen our relationship with Georgia and Tbilisi. Mayor Kaladze’s invitation to lead a business delegation to Tbilisi is a valuable opportunity. We are ready to work together to identify key areas of mutual interest and ensure the visit is productive,” said Fontana.
