Strong Georgia's Dolidze: This is party council, not true commission for reconciliation

“This is not a ‘so-called’ commission; it is a party council. A truth commission is fundamentally different—it is non-partisan, comprised of individuals of the highest authority, and focused on reconciliation,” writes Ana Dolidze, one of the Strong Georgia party leaders, on social media.

“First and foremost, this is not a ‘so-called’ commission, but a party council. Secondly, in 2012, I proposed and thoroughly discussed the idea of a truth commission in the media, which should have been established in 2012-2013. That idea was quashed at the time, and now this group has been formed for political revenge.

A truth commission is entirely different—it should be non-partisan, composed of respected individuals, and aimed at fostering reconciliation. However, they chose not to create one because they wanted to keep these issues alive for political manoeuvring. They’ve been cultivating this situation for 13 years.

Thirdly, if anyone needs to be questioned, it’s Murusidze-Chinchaladze’s group, through whom widespread repression has occurred and continues to occur. They lack the courage to bring Chinchaladze before Parliament—the man did not even attend his own nomination hearing. The judges’ assembly voted for an empty chair,” Ana Dolidze states on social media.
