Ana Dolidze, leader of the For People party, quit the Strong Georgia coalition.

Dolidze announced her decision on Facebook, saying her party would continue activities independently.

“I extend my gratitude to all those who voted for Ana Dolidze – For People party in the elections and expressed confidence in the Strong Georgia coalition. Our primary objective was to prevent Bidzina Ivanishvili from seizing our votes and undermining Georgia’s European course. We put aside our ambitions for the interests and love of Georgia.

At the same time, we have established the foundation of a strong and enduring tradition of coalition cooperation—something that has been largely lacking in Georgian political culture—and this will be nurtured and continued. However, it is high time for the party to return to its goals and objectives.

We actively cooperate with the European Social Democratic Party, and this cooperation is gaining momentum since we aspire to become its observer member. We believe this cooperation is a significant opportunity for the party to develop independently, continue serving citizens’ interests and support our European choice,” Ana Dolidze wrote.
