Salome Samadashvili: Investigative commission has no legitimacy

“This investigative commission has no legitimacy whatsoever, not only because parliament is illegitimate, but also because the commission was created in violation of all constitutional and procedural rules. This commission’s report will have no legal power,” stated Lelo opposition party member Salome Samadashvili.

According to Samadashvili, “the time will come when the activities of this commission and its members will be investigated.”

“This Russian commission has been created in our country to establish a new, powerful instrument of political persecution. I am convinced that this commission’s report will serve exactly this purpose – to subsequently restrict and presumably ban the activities of all democratic and pro-European parties in Georgia, as this is Russia’s assignment.

Therefore, Ms. Tsulukiani’s and her Russian commission’s report has a single function – serving Russia’s interests. This is precisely why we do not recognize this commission as legitimate. Today, two leaders of our party, Mamuka Khazaradze and Badri Japaridze, have been sent to prison by the Russian regime,” Samadashvili declared.

Parliament’s Temporary Investigative Commission’s report will be made public in September.
