Lelo's Samadashvili: October 4 'creators' should stop demoralizing society, analogies of doomed battles serve enemy’s interests
“The regime has not deceived anyone, neither inside nor outside the country. Everything will pass — Georgia will win this war. Those who are now trying to suppress society with a narrative of doomed heroism will ultimately look ridiculous,” wrote Salome Samadashvili, a member of the opposition Lelo party, on social media.
According to Samadashvili, a large part of the public believes that recent events are the result of political irresponsibility.
“It’s time for the ‘creators’ of October 4 to stop their campaign to demoralize society and acknowledge that it’s not the 1920s, nor Bidzina is Stalin. We have been an independent country for 30 years. Analogies of doomed battles only serve the enemy’s interests,” she wrote.
Samadashvili called for allowing history to assess the events of October 4.
“What we know is encouraging — the Security Service’s provocation did not work. A large part of society believes that what happened was the result of political irresponsibility. People sympathise with the victims and the new prisoners, which is a healthy reaction. This provocation has not changed the belief that the regime must be replaced — and soon. The regime has not deceived anyone, neither inside the country nor outside. Everything will pass, Georgia will win this war. Those who now suppress society with narratives of doomed heroism will look ridiculous,” Samadashvili concluded.
