Resolution in support of Georgia submitted to US Congress

The two-party resolution in support of Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova has been submitted to the US Congress.

According to the information of Georgian Foreign Ministry, initiator of the resolution is Ted Poe, Congressman from Texas and Chairman of Group of Friends of Georgia. The resolution has 8 co-sponsor Congressmen both from Republican and Democratic Parties.

The resolution supports territorial integrity and state sovereignty of Georgia, Ukraine and Moldova and highlights that free and high-standard elections were held in Georgia in 2016.

The resolution confirms occupation of 1/5 territory of Georgia. US Congressmen call on Russia for pullout of armed forces from the three countries and suspension of destructive activities in the occupied regions.

The resolution will be put for voting in Foreign Relations Committee of Representative Chamber next week and if supported, will be further put for voting at the plenary session of the US Congress.
