The Chief Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia released a statement over the special operation carried out at Monk Gabriel Salosi Street in Tbilisi on November 22. One person was detained and three people were killed during the special operation in suspicion of having links with terrorism.
‘The Chief Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has presented an indictment to S.D. for joining foreign country’s terrorist organization, providing it with assistance, illegal purchase and possession of arms, military materials, explosive substances and devices according to the first part of the 3231 article and article #328.
As established by the investigative activities, S.D. resided in one of the apartments located at Gabriel Salosi Street in Tbilisi together with his thee accomplices. They kept explosive substances and devices for terrorist aims.
S.D. was detained on November 21 in Tbilisi by Georgia’s law enforcers. He had weapon and bullets when being arrested.
After S.D. was detained, the three terrorists being in the apartment refused to open the door and hand over the weapons to the law enforcers. They threw hand-grenades and opened intensive fire to the law enforcers. Five members of Georgia’s special squad got injuries and one died as a result,’ Georgia’s Prosecutor’s Office reports.
According to the statement S.D. faces 10-17 years of imprisonment. Investigation is in progress.
