25 Georgian citizens arrested in Spain on charge of being members of criminal gang
Twenty-five Georgian citizens were detained in Barcelona, Spain, during a large-scale special operation “Merlin-Taka” carried out through the international police cooperation with participation of 250 law-enforcers.
Vladimer Bortsvadze, Deputy Georgian Minister of Internal Affairs said that more than 100 citizens of different countries including 25 Georgians were arrested on charge of robbery and being members of a criminal gang. Also, 41 Georgian citizens were detained for violation of migration rules.
The special operation was carried out in a former building of a school. Stolen items and cash money were confiscated as evidence. According to Bortsvadze, struggle against international organized crime represents one of the main priorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).
