President Kavelashvili: Value-based state policy key to combating drug crime

“Today once again reminds us that drug addiction and drug-related crime remain among the most pressing global challenges, threatening not only individual health but also creating serious social problems and harming future generations,” Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili wrote on social media.

According to Kavelashvili, it is the responsibility of the ruling team to intensify efforts against drug-related crime and raise public awareness about the dangers of drug use.

“Our goal is to protect future generations from harmful influences through clear, effective, and result-oriented actions. We must strengthen the fight against drug crime and enhance education on drug prevention, so that young people can grow up in a safe environment and choose a healthy lifestyle, education, and personal development.

At the same time, it is essential to provide help and support to those struggling with addiction. The fight against drug abuse and the promotion of a healthy lifestyle are national priorities. To achieve these goals, coordinated efforts are being made across all institutional levels, with relevant agencies working together. These actions are expected to bring tangible, positive results.

I welcome the legislative changes already enacted to strengthen the fight against drug crime. The two new initiatives announced by the Prime Minister in this regard are also of great importance. It is crucial for everyone to understand that a state policy rooted in strong values is the foundation for raising a responsible and aware generation—an essential pillar in the fight against drugs and drug-related crime,” the President wrote.
