Police seize large quantity of drugs ready for sale; foreign national detained

Officers from the Police Department of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, have apprehended a Ukrainian citizen, identified as S.G., born in 2004, on charges of illegal possession and storage of substantial quantities of drugs, as well as facilitating their illicit sale.

According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, a search of the suspect’s temporary residence, along with an investigative operation, resulted in the seizure of a significant amount of methadone prepared for distribution, which was recovered from the location provided by the individual as evidence.

The investigation is ongoing under Articles 260 and 260-4 of the Criminal Code, which can carry penalties of up to 20 years’ imprisonment or life imprisonment.
