President applied to international organizations about situation in occupied Tskhinvali region
President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili applied to international organizations with a letter about the situation in occupied Tskhinvali region.
According to Presidential Administration, in the letter addressed to heads of UN, EU and co-chairmen of Geneva International Discussions, President Zurabishvili urged for use of all the available mechanisms to avoid escalation of the situation and for protection of fundamental human rights.
“President underlined that social and humanitarian situation is worsening, human rights are systematically and harshly violated, facts of abduction of Georgian citizens, their imprisonment as well as deaths of individuals in prisons in uncertain circumstances are frequent and that locals are psychologically and physically abused,” reads the information released by Presidential Administration.
