PM: Until 2018, UNM regime didn't dare claim they hadn't started war; Zourabichvili's 2018 statement gave them grounds to argue opposite
“Who started the war is documented in relevant papers, where the National Movement party has also confirmed everything with their signature – this includes the Council of Europe resolution, the Tagliavini report, and Mikheil Saakashvili’s own decree,” Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists.
According to the head of government, “all three documents state that Saakashvili’s regime started the war.”
“Until 2018, representatives of this regime and party didn’t dare to claim they hadn’t started the war. In 2018, Salome Zourabichvili made a statement that the war was started by the then-government, and this gave the National Movement grounds to argue the opposite.
It was a difficult period, given that the situation within the Georgian Dream team itself wasn’t simple, and we found it hard to defend Salome Zourabichvili when she made that statement. Because of this statement, Salome Zourabichvili was declared a traitor, and this position of theirs probably remains in force today,” the Prime Minister stated.
