Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze attended the civil funeral service for acclaimed film director Eldar Shengelaia at Sioni Cathedral, where he offered condolences to the Shengelaia family.

The Prime Minister was accompanied by several cabinet members, including Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze, Culture Minister Tinatin Rukhadze, Interior Minister Geka Geladze, Foreign Affairs Minister Maka Botchorishvili, Education Minister Givi Mikanadze, Health Minister Mikheil Sarjveladze, and Justice Minister Paata Salia.

Earlier today, Georgian Dream Honorary Chairman Bidzina Ivanishvili and his wife Ekaterine Khvedelidze also paid their respects to the Shengelaia family.

The legendary director, who died on August 4 at age 92, will be laid to rest at Didube Pantheon following the 2:00 PM service. He will be buried alongside his parents, renowned actress Nato Vachnadze and director Nikoloz Shengelaia, as well as his brother, filmmaker Giorgi Shengelaia.
