PM: Georgia leads regional cooperation, connecting physical and diplomatic bridges; Middle Corridor at its heart

“Despite global economic and geopolitical challenges, Georgia, situated at the crossroads of Europe and Asia, stands as a success story,” Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze made this statement during his speech at the plenary session of the international forum “Peace and Trust: Shared Goals for a Sustainable Future” in Turkmenistan.

According to the Head of Government, the country continues to develop steadily, maintaining macroeconomic stability, achieving impressive growth, and demonstrating remarkable economic resilience.

“Guided by a clear vision of lasting peace, the country has continued to develop steadily, maintaining macroeconomic stability, achieving impressive growth, and demonstrating exceptional economic resilience. These achievements are a direct reflection of the government’s guiding strategy. Peace creates predictability, and predictability, in turn, lays the foundation for a sustainable economy.

Georgia has maintained a stable trend of economic growth for several consecutive years. Between 2021 and 2024, Georgia reported one of the highest economic growth rates globally, averaging 9.8%. GDP per capita in USD has more than doubled compared to 2020. The trend of high economic growth is expected to continue in the coming years, as confirmed by assessments from reputable international financial institutions,” Irakli Kobakhidze stated.

As the Prime Minister observed, recognising the positive economic momentum, Georgia is an active advocate of regional cooperation, forging both physical and diplomatic bridges across the region.

“The Middle Corridor, linking Asia and Europe, is central to this region. It is designed not only to facilitate trade but also to strengthen mutual economic interdependence, the most durable foundation of trust among nations. Indeed, the Middle Corridor is more than a transport route. It is a corridor of trust connecting people, businesses, and cultures across the continent,” the Prime Minister has stated.
