Three defendants in the October 4 case — Zurab Chavchanidze, Nana Sander and Anton Vardanidze — are set to enter into plea agreements after admitting their guilt and applying to the Prosecutor’s Office to conclude such agreements.

Under the terms of the plea agreements, Chavchanidze, Sander and Vardanidze have each been sentenced to one year and one month of imprisonment. They are expected to be released from prison within the next few days.

Both sides gave their written and verbal consent to the agreements during today’s court hearing.

A ruling was also delivered today concerning Abo Naveriani and Mariam Mekvantsishvili, who were convicted in the same case as Nana Sander. The Court of Appeals upheld the first-instance ruling, leaving Naveriani’s five-year prison sentence and Mekvantsishvili’s GEL 5,000 fine unchanged.

Meanwhile, proceedings continue in the cases of defendants who have declined to enter into plea agreements. In some cases, the Court of Appeals is expected to announce its decisions tomorrow at 12:00 p.m.

A total of 64 people have been charged in connection with the October 4 case, 50 of whom have applied to the Prosecutor’s Office to conclude plea agreements. Hearings in the criminal case are ongoing at the Court of Appeals, and the number of defendants seeking plea agreements may increase further.
