People's Power: Opposition's long-awaited attack on Salome Zourabichvili begins

“It seems Gubaz Sanikidze realized that Salome Zourabichvili’s sun has set, and now the collective National Movement’s sun is setting too. That’s why he decided to attack in that direction,” stated Guram Macharashvili, the People’s Power party’s Executive Secretary.

Macharashvili commented on opposition politician Gubaz Sanikidze’s statement, where he noted: “Salome Zourabichvili’s positions are already very weak. What has she gotten the opposition to agree on? What has she managed to organize? She has failed every project she started. Do we owe anything to this woman?”

“When was Zourabichvili ever strong, that he’s now saying she’s weak? Was it when she was betraying the country, had presidential functions and was using them only against the country’s interests? Now she has no functions and is only moving around to save herself. Remember when we supported Zourabichvili in becoming the standard-bearer of the collective National Movement? We wished for Zourabichvili, and they accepted her as a leader. Now it’s too late to complain that Zourabichvili is weak. The collective National Movement didn’t want Zourabichvili as a leader before either, but nobody asked them. Both Zourabishvili and the collective National Movement are controlled from abroad. Accordingly, foreign powers wouldn’t consult either Gubaz Sanikidze or Levan Khabeishvili about Zourabichvili’s leadership. They just followed orders as they were arranged.

The opposition couldn’t stand Zourabichvili. We said they would pounce on her when she leaves office, and that day has come,” Guram Macharashvili declared.
