“In today’s world, it is exceedingly difficult to overstate China’s significance, its influence in global politics and its position in the world economy,” stated Sozar Subari, Vice-Speaker of the Georgian Parliament and Chairman of People’s Power, regarding the Georgian delegation’s visit to China.

Subari emphasised that the importance of maintaining close relations with China is underscored by the fact that European and American leaders also have strong connections with the country.

“In today’s world, it is exceedingly difficult to overstate China’s role, what it contributes to international politics or its standing in the global economy. For countries like ours, establishing a deep relationship with China is crucial. When we speak of Georgia’s role in connecting East and West, particularly through the Middle Corridor, this endeavour is unthinkable without China and Chinese cargo. Therefore, close ties with China are vital. The protests of Georgian radicals claiming that connecting with China is inadmissible are being dismissed by European and American leaders, who maintain strong contacts with China,” said Subari.

For context, the Chairman of the Georgian Parliament, Shalva Papuashvili, has departed for an official visit to the People’s Republic of China. The delegation includes First Deputy Speaker Giorgi Volski, head of the Georgia-China Parliamentary Friendship Group; Deputy Speakers Nino Tsilosani and Sozar Subari; Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee Nikoloz Samkharadze; and Chairman of the Agriculture Committee Gela Samkharauli.
