No seasonal flu has been detected in the second half of December in Georgia for the first time in the last several years, the National Center for Diseases Control and Public Health (NCDC) said.
Based on the NCDC data, the B Type virus was laboratory-confirmed during the first week of December. Rhinovirus and COVID-19 predominate in the country.
The NCDC Head Amiran Gamkrelidze said that the increased vaccination and observation of safety rules attributed to the positive situation.
According to Amiran Gamkrelidze, the government financed the vaccination of 210 000 people, while about 50 000 people applied to the private sector to be vaccinated.
The NCDC called on risk groups, including pregnant women, for timely seasonal flu vaccination.
