The Georgian National Center for Diseases Control and Public Health (NCDC) reported that no case of EG.5, a new strain of the coronavirus has been confirmed in Georgia.
The NCDC said that it continues to monitor Covid-19 strain variations calculation and the spread of other viruses. It added that the centre has not received information from private labs either.
“According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the EG.5 strain of the coronavirus does not cause the development of symptoms or severe disease different from the currently spread strain of Omicron. Thus, it does not require a distinct response and is managed by standard protocols,” the NCDC said.
