“As part of the conference, we conducted bilateral meetings with the Speakers of EU member state parliaments. Notably, I had an engaging discussion with the Speaker of the Italian Parliament, who expressed full readiness to elevate parliamentary relations between Georgia and Italy to a new level,” stated Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chairman of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Georgian Parliament, during his visit to Hungary.

He also highlighted that the delegation met with the Speaker of the Luxembourg Parliament and briefed him on Georgia’s situation.

“We thanked Luxembourg for its balanced stance last December, when their Prime Minister questioned the lack of evidence regarding alleged election fraud in Georgia during a European summit. Our conversations also addressed Russia’s occupation, with Luxembourg showing interest in developments both in the occupied territories and across the Black Sea region,” he noted.

Samkharadze further mentioned meetings with the Speakers of Bulgaria, Romania, and Belgium, as well as delegations from candidate countries, including Moldova, Ukraine, and Montenegro.

“We are all gathered here for a common purpose — to discuss the future of Europe. All 27 member states and candidate countries are engaged in shaping the Europe we aspire to create,” he concluded, summing up the Conference of Speakers of the EU Parliaments (EUSC) in Hungary.
