Hungary’s PM-elect Magyar: We will continue good relations with Georgia; however, we will not interfere in others’ internal affairs

“Yes, obviously, we will continue the good relations with Georgia,” Tisza party leader Péter Magyar has stated.

Responding to a question asked by a journalist from Rustavi 2 TV, “Given that Georgia and Hungary share a longstanding friendship expressed through strategic partnership, how will you continue relations with Georgia, and will there be closer cooperation with the Georgian government?”

“The fact that Victor Orban’s government had strong ties with a country in the Balkans or anywhere else doesn’t mean that Hungary will have worse relations with the same country, but if Hungary had bad relations with the country, we will improve that. Because it is in our shared interest to work together, to cooperate and to prosper together. I look forward to visiting you in Tbilisi or elsewhere. I’m eager to work together, but I want to emphasise that we have no intention of interfering in the internal affairs of other countries. We have no intention of interfering in the elections of your country, North Macedonia, or anywhere else. That’s not our style, and that is not the job of any European government; everyone is elected to support and represent the electorate of that country,” Péter Magyar stated.
