MFA: Georgia appoints new ambassadors to Spain, Slovenia, The Holy See

Georgia has new ambassadors to Spain, Slovenia, and the Holy See, the Georgian Foreign Ministry said on Thursday.

According to the Ministry, Aleksandre Chkuaseli has been appointed as Georgia’s Ambassador to Spain. “Since 2003, he has held various positions in the Foreign Ministry and Georgian diplomatic missions. He was the Consul General of Georgia in Barcelona. He has been awarded the diplomatic rank of Ambassador.”

The new Georgian ambassador to Slovenia is Konstantine Surguladze. “Since 1997, Surguladze has been employed in the Foreign Ministry. He served as Georgia’s ambassador to Italy and the Netherlands at various times. In addition, he served as Georgia’s State Minister for Diaspora Affairs. He has been awarded the diplomatic rank of Ambassador.”

David Mekvabishvili has been appointed as Georgia’s ambassador to the Holy See. “At different times, he worked at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the Embassy of the Sovereign Military Order of St. John of Jerusalem, Rhodes and Malta in Georgia, and was also the Director of the Cardinal Pio Lagi Foundation. He has been awarded the Knight of the Order of Merit of the Order of Malta.”
