Georgia appoints new ambassadors to Slovakia, Ireland, and Malaysia
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia has announced new ambassadorial appointments to Slovakia, Ireland, and Malaysia.
Konstantine Kvachakidze has been appointed as Georgia’s Ambassador to the Slovak Republic. A career diplomat since 2000, he previously served as Georgia’s Ambassador to Cyprus and as Deputy Permanent Representative to the Council of Europe.
Sofio Katsarava will serve as Georgia’s Ambassador to Ireland. She was Ambassador to the United Kingdom from 2020 to 2024 and also served as Georgia’s Permanent Representative to the International Maritime Organization. From 2016 to 2019, she was a Member of Parliament and chaired the Foreign Relations Committee. Katsarava is a recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Award and holds the diplomatic rank of Envoy Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.
Irakli Asashvili has been appointed as Georgia’s Ambassador to Malaysia. Since June 2024, he has served as Chargé d’Affaires ad interim at the Embassy in Malaysia. His previous roles include Ambassador to Indonesia and Consul General in Trabzon and Istanbul, Turkey. He holds the diplomatic rank of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary.
