Georgian, Slovak Defense officials discuss military cooperation and security
Georgian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense Irakli Chikovani met with the Chief of the General Staff of the Slovak Armed Forces, Daniel Zmeko, who is on an official visit to Georgia.
According to the Ministry of Defense, the meeting focused on bilateral defense cooperation and regional security issues. Chikovani thanked the Slovak side for its continued support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
An official welcoming ceremony for General Zmeko was held at the Ministry of Defense. He was also hosted by his Georgian counterpart, Commander of the Georgian Defense Forces, Lieutenant General Giorgi Matiashvili.
During a meeting at the General Staff, the sides discussed prospects for further strengthening military cooperation. The Georgian side highlighted General Zmeko’s contribution to deepening defense ties between the two countries.
As part of the visit, the Slovak delegation paid tribute to the soldiers who died for Georgia’s territorial integrity, laying a wreath at the Heroes’ Memorial. The delegation also visited the NATO-Georgia Joint Training and Evaluation Center.
