Lasha Bekauri wins gold at La Nucia European Open

Georgia’s double Olympic champion, judoka Lasha Bekauri (90kg) has claimed the gold medal at the European Open tournament in Spain. Bekauri defeated Spanish judoka Daniel Nieto-Trinidad in just eight seconds in the final bout, securing his first title since the Olympic Games.

It’s worth noting that many well-known judokas were not competing at the La Nucia Open. Bekauri was the sole representative from Georgia at the event, using this tournament as preparation for the upcoming World Championships scheduled for June 13-20.
