Georgian judoka Lasha Bekauri secures first victory at La Nucia European Open

Georgia’s double Olympic champion Lasha Bekauri (90kg) has claimed his first victory at the ongoing La Nucia European Open in Spain. Bekauri defeated Austria’s Islamhanov with an ippon in just a matter of seconds to advance to the round of 16.

This Spanish tournament marks Bekauri’s first competitive appearance since the Paris Olympic Games. The 25-year-old judoka is the sole representative from Georgia participating in the La Nucia European Open.
