Georgia wins first gold at Tokyo Olympic Games
Georgia won its first gold medal at Tokyo Olympic Games after Lasha Bekauri defeated Germany’s Eduard Trippel in the men’s 90kg category.

Georgian judoka reached the finals by defeating Poland’s Piotr Kuczera and Israel’s Li Kochman.
This is Georgia’s third medal at the Summer Olympic Games after judokas Vazha Margvelashvili and Lasha Shavdatuashvili claimed silvers in men’s 66kg and men’s 73kg categories.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili and Foreign Minister David Zalkaliani congratulated Bekauri on his victory.
