Gov't Administration Head presents GOG priorities to UN country team for the Georgia–UN cooperation

Levan Zhorzholiani, Head of Government Administration presented the Government of Georgia’s (GOG) priorities to United Nations (UN) agencies, which will be taken into account in the Georgia-UN Cooperation Framework for 2026-2030,  the Government Administration reported.

Representatives of Georgian state institutions and UN agencies discussed the directions for sustainable development cooperation at a meeting held today.

According to Levan Zhorzholiani, the country has two main priorities in terms of cooperation with the United Nations: economic growth and the UN’s work in the occupied territories of Georgia.

“We discussed the key aspects, priorities and directions of cooperation between Georgia and the UN over the next five years. Two areas are of particular importance to us: the UN’s engagement in the occupied territories and economic growth, which must be green and inclusive. It is important that the country’s wealth is distributed equally across rural and urban areas. We also reviewed various other priorities that, in the coming years, will form the basis for the action plans of all UN agencies and the relevant ministries,” stated the Head of the Government Administration.

The meeting participants were also addressed by Didier Trebucq, UN Resident Coordinator in Georgia. He noted that the UN representation in Georgia is conducting consultations with partner institutions to jointly define priorities and identify which areas should be considered a priority for the UN’s work in Georgia over the next five years.

The meeting was attended by the heads of all UN agencies and deputy ministers.
