Germany offers financial and operational assistance to the foreigners willing to return to their home countries voluntarily.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia, the German Government and the International Organization for Migration are collaborating within the project: „REAG/GARP – Reintegration and Emigration Programme for Asylum-Seekers in Germany (REAG); Government Assisted Repatriation Programme (GARP)“, which offers financial and operational assistance to foreigners, including citizens of Georgia, willing to return to their home countries voluntarily. Within the framework of the program (REAG / GARP), the German Government grants the following types of assistance – payment of travel costs and possibilities for additional financial assistance.

According to the program, support applies to those citizens of Georgia who entered Germany until March 27, 2017, before the enactment of visa-free regime and were refused from granting asylum in Germany but the deadline given by the relevant agency for leaving the country has not expired yet; and to those citizens of Georgia who have been obtained refugee status but voluntarily want to return to Georgia.

The program will allow individuals to determine their return date and other details related to travel.

According to the German side, up to February 28, 2018, there is possibility for the abovementioned individuals to receive financial assistance in amount of 3,000 EURO for covering household expenses after returning to home country.

In 2016, a total of 54,000 people benefited from the program.
