PM meets Frank-Walter Steinmeier

Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia met Frank-Walter Steinmeier, President of the Federal Republic of Germany today, the Government Administration reported.

The discussion was related to the successful cooperation of Georgia and Germany both in bilateral and multilateral formats.

The role of Germany as one of the greatest supporters of Georgia was highlighted in the process of institutional and socio-economic development.

Focus was made on the European and Euro-Atlantic integration of the country. Historic decision on granting the status of an EU Candidate Country to Georgia was highlighted at the meeting. The Prime Minister stated that the country remains committed to the European choice and believes its immediate goal to be the opening of negotiations for EU accession, while the support of Germany bears special importance in this process.

Focus was made on the security environment in the region and the unwavering support of Germany towards the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia, for which Irakli Kobakhidze expressed his gratitude to the President of the Federal Republic of Germany.

The Head of Government of Germany made an entry in the Memorabilia Book designated for the Guest of Honor at the Palace of the President of the Federal Republic of Germany.
