Geostat: April inflation in Georgia hits 3.3% by EU methodology

The National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat) has been publishing a new indicator—the Harmonized Index of Consumer Prices (HICP) since 2022.

According to Geostat, inflation in April 2025, measured by the HICP methodology, stood at 3.3%, which is 0.1 percentage point lower than the 3.4% inflation rate calculated using the national methodology.

Inflation by category, based on the EU HICP methodology compared to April 2024, is as follows: Food and non-alcoholic beverages: +5.6%; Alcoholic beverages and tobacco: +3.4%; Clothing and footwear: -0.2%; Housing, water, electricity, gas, and other fuels: +1.3%; Furniture, household goods, and home maintenance: -2.8%; Health: +9.3%; Transport: -2.1%; Communications: -12.1%; Recreation and culture: +2.0%; Education: +5.2%; Hotels, cafes, and restaurants: +6.2%; Miscellaneous goods and services: +6.5%.
