Geostat: Construction costs in Georgia increase 2% year-on-year in March
National Statistics Office of Georgia reported that in March 2026, the construction cost index increased by 1.9 percent compared to the previous month and by 2.0 percent compared to March of the previous year.
According to Geostat the residential segment index increased by 0.4 percent month-on-month and by 0.2 percent year-on-year; the non-residential segment index increased by 2.1 percent compared to the previous month and by 3.2 percent compared to the same period last year; the civil construction segment index increased by 3.2 percent month-on-month and by 3.3 percent year-on-year.
The agency stated that the 1.9 percent monthly increase in March 2026 was mainly driven by a 7.7 percent rise in transportation, fuel, and electricity costs, which contributed 0.94 percentage points to the overall index increase.
“Compared to the corresponding month of the previous year, the construction cost index increased by 2.0 percent. The increase was largely caused by a 2.7 percent rise in the average monthly nominal wage of employees in the construction sector and a 4.3 percent increase in transportation, fuel, and electricity costs, which contributed 1.35 and 0.62 percentage points, respectively, to the total index change.
In addition, the construction cost index increased by 26.0 percent compared to February 2022,” the Geostat report states.
