GeoStat: In 2025, Georgian citizenship granted to 2,333 people, 1,426 revoked citizenship
In 2025, Georgian citizenship was granted to 2,333 people, while 1,426 people had their citizenship revoked, the National Statistics Service of Georgia (GeoStat) reported.
According to the GeoStat, the largest number of people who received Georgian citizenship – 1,393 – were from the Russian Federation; 296 were from Germany, 114 from Ukraine, 104 from Armenia, and 81 from the U.S.
As for the termination of Georgian citizenship, in 2025, the legal basis was the acquisition of citizenship of another country. Of the 1,526 individuals who had their Georgian citizenship revoked in 2025, 639 received Russian citizenship, 209 received Greek citizenship, and 121 were granted Turkiye citizenship.
