Georgian judoka Guram Tushishvili claims silver at World Championships

Georgia’s Guram Tushishvili has won a silver medal in the men’s over-100kg category at the Judo World Championships, currently taking place in Budapest, Hungary.

The heavyweight judoka fell short in a closely contested final against Inal Tasoev, who competed under a neutral flag.

The Georgian national team wrapped up the individual tournament with an impressive four medals. Eteri Liparteliani (57kg) struck gold, while both Tato Grigalashvili (81kg) and Guram Tushishvili (+100kg) earned silver. Luka Maisuradze (90kg) added a bronze to Georgia’s tally.

The mixed team competition is scheduled for 20 June, where Georgia will face China in the round of 16. A win would set up a quarter-final clash against the winner of Hungary versus Italy.
