On the final day of the European Judo Championship in Tbilisi, the captain of the Georgian national team, Guram Tushishvili, won the gold medal, becoming European champion for the third time.
The Georgian national team finished the tournament with a historic result, securing seven medals in total — four gold, two silver, and one bronze — and topping the overall standings.
“I am very happy. I became European champion for the third time, but this was the most important victory, because the championship was held in Georgia. I won in front of our people and made the Georgian fans happy – I congratulate everyone,” Tushishvili told the GPB First Channel.
He noted that the team is in strong form: “The team is in a good situation and this historic result confirms that.”
“At the upcoming World Championship, we will try to win gold medals, return with joy and make our fans happy again,” he added.
