Georgian FM meets Turkmen counterpart

Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili met with her Turkmen counterpart Rashid Meredov in Turkmenistan.

According to the Ministry’s press office, “the meeting positively assessed the existing relations at the political level, noted the importance of high and top-level visits, and paid special attention to the meeting of the Georgian Prime Minister and the President of Turkmenistan.”

“The parties discussed current issues of cooperation between Georgia and Turkmenistan. The parties talked about the achievements in the trade, economic, transport, and energy sectors between the two countries, and the prospects for the development of partnership.

The meeting emphasized the Black Sea-Caspian Sea transport and transit project. The discussion also touched upon the Black Sea submarine cable project.

The parties emphasized the importance of regional peace and stability, the fruitful cooperation between the two countries, both at the bilateral level and within international organizations, as well as the friendly nature of long-standing relations.

Rashid Meredov thanked his Georgian counterpart for supporting Turkmenistan on international platforms, particularly emphasizing the friendly and trust-based partnership between the two countries, and expressed unwavering support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Georgia,” reads the statement.

Within the framework of the visit, the Ministers signed the various documents about cooperation programs.
