Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili: Defending sovereignty guarantees freedom, independence
“I congratulate every citizen of Georgia on this day and wish you to live in a united, free Georgia, for which no one should ever spare work and life,” said Georgian Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili in a live broadcast of Moambe News Program.
According to Maka Botchorishvili, the pivotal duty of the Foreign Ministry and Georgian diplomats is to defend the country’s interests and their portrayal on the international arena with dignity.
“The Foreign Ministry is the institution which is obliged to defend the country’s interests outside the country. Diplomats also have a special duty in this, which, I think, they fulfil well and successfully. All the values that our country has outside of Georgia are especially precious, and it is significant to protect them properly.
Today, we often talk about defending our country’s sovereignty. This is precisely the key task of Georgian diplomats, to think and take care about defending our country’s sovereignty, which is the guarantee of our country’s freedom and independence,” she said.
