Georgian citizens held in Israeli deportation facility return home

Georgian citizens held in a deportation facility in Israel have returned to Georgia, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Deputy Foreign Minister Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili welcomed the returnees at Tbilisi Shota Rustaveli International Airport.

The Ministry stated that, in coordination with relevant Israeli authorities, it ensured the safe and prompt return of Georgian citizens. Due to the current situation in Israel, the Georgian Embassy continues to operate in emergency mode, having already assisted over 500 citizens through consultations and support. A hotline has also been activated for those in need.

The Ministry noted that Georgian citizens in Israel who wish to leave can do so via land through the Israel-Jordan or Israel-Egypt (Taba) border crossings, provided they hold a valid Georgian passport. Approximately 1,000 citizens have already left the country by land.
