FM: Georgia’s history with Israel built on strong ties; discussed regional and global politics during visit

“During my visit to Israel, we discussed events both in the region and in global politics,” Georgia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Maka Botchorishvili, stated.

According to her, cooperation with Israel must develop further in the future.

“Georgia historically has its own relationship with Israel based on close ties between our peoples. Naturally, we have areas in which we need to develop our cooperation in the future. Clearly, developments in this region have a significant impact on global politics. They influence the wider area, which is why it is essential that we monitor these developments closely.

During this visit, we discussed both regional and global affairs. Regarding matters within international organisations, we must maintain ongoing dialogue and cooperate on a range of issues.

It’s also important for us to address issues of interest to Georgia, whether in agriculture, education, healthcare, or strengthening trade and economic ties. Georgia is one of the most attractive destinations for tourists from Israel. It is important for the country that the number of visitors continues to rise and that economic ties and cooperation in specific sectors are further strengthened. Evidence of this includes ministerial visits across various industries, both to Georgia and Israel,” stated Botchorishvili.
