Embassy of Israel: Georgia-Israel friendship of 2,600 years, based on mutual respect, shared values, should be reflected today, in times of trouble

“History teaches us that even in complex times, the values of true friendship, moral courage, and clarity regarding terror and violence are what strengthen the ties between nations,” the Embassy of Israel to Georgia wrote on its Facebook page.

According to the Embassy, friendships are tested not only through kind words, but also in complex moments.

“Someone said recently: ‘A friend is tested in times of trouble.’ Some friendships are tested not only through kind words, but also in complex moments.

The terror led by the Islamic Republic of Iran against the State of Israel is not a new phenomenon. For decades, the regime in Tehran, under the leadership of late Ali Khamenei, has financed, armed, and encouraged organizations that act against innocent Israeli and other civilians and undermine stability across the entire region. Our war and our struggle are not against the Iranian people, who themselves have suffered under this regime of terror for the past 47 years, but against this murderous regime.

We all hope that soon all of us, Iranians, Israelis, and Iran’s neighbors, will live in security and peace.

Israel will continue to defend its citizens and its right to live in security, just as any sovereign state would do. History teaches us that even in complex times, the values of true friendship, moral courage, and clarity regarding terror and violence are what strengthen the ties between nations.

True friendship between peoples is measured by the ability to distinguish between those who choose the path of life, stability, and cooperation, and those who continue to cultivate terror, extremism, and violence.

It is true that neighbors are not chosen, but friends are. And a friendship of 2,600 years, like the one between the Georgian people and the Jewish people, based on mutual respect and shared values, should be reflected today as well, especially in times of trouble,” it said.
