GD vows to complete 12-point recommendations by end of June

Irakli Kobakhidze, Chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party, vowed the government would complete the EC’s 12-point recommendations’ implementation by the end of June. Kobakhidze is optimistic about a “positive decision” on granting EU candidate status to Georgia in December if “fair assessment.”

Nevertheless, Irakli Kobakhidze emphasized that the European Council’s decision would be a political decision, and Georgia’s chances were 50/50.

Speaking about depolarization, the GD Chair said that both sides had to “take steps” and make concessions.

“Depolarization is when radicals stop acting radical, and the government has no interest in acting radical itself. We call on the radical opposition to become non-radical. It is, of course, a general call. We have no such expectation, but we still voice it,” he said.
