PM criticizes EU Parliament resolutions noting 'declaring Kezerashvili pitiable refugee diminishes MEP statements' value

The Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, when asked about the debate in the European Parliament regarding the draft law on “Transparency of Foreign Influence,” said that recent resolutions from the European Parliament have lost their value for Georgian society.

Kobakhidze highlighted that some odious Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) are spreading misinformation, which has led to a loss of credibility in their statements.

“You recall three resolutions declaring Kezerashvili as a pitiful refugee, Saakashvili and Gvaramia as political prisoners, and calling for the punishment of Bidzina Ivanishvili. These actions have reduced the credibility of European Parliament resolutions in the eyes of the public. Certain MEPs have managed to pass resolutions filled with misinformation, which is deeply contrary to European values.

I hope Europe can soon address and resolve these challenges. Truth, facts, and arguments are paramount to me. Lies, whether from a Georgian or foreign source, are still lies. What matters most are the truth, facts, and arguments. Declaring Kezerashvili a pitiable refugee or calling for ‘de-Bidzinization’ diminishes the value of MEP statements, which is simply shameful. People like Rasa Jukneviciene, who represent remnants of the Warsaw Pact, should not be the face of Europe,” the Prime Minister stated.
