Gakharia for Georgia's Liluashvili considers it impossible to unite with UNM
“Regarding unification with the United National Movement, our position has always been very consistent. It is impossible,” stated Beka Liluashvili, the Gakharia – For Georgia party member.
According to Liluashvili, the party has neither created expectations, nor made promises, nor taken on any political responsibility.
As Liluashvili noted, they consider it unimaginable to unite with people with whom they have no common ground.
“We were saying this before the elections. If the polls had not been rigged and the opposition had come to power, we were not even planning to be in government with the United National Movement. Despite all this, we said that coordination with these people on Salome Zurabishvili’s platform was possible when the issue concerned the country’s national future and the fight for political prisoners’ release. We are doing this, but unification is absurd.
How can you imagine that we should take steps to free political prisoners, and alongside the dignified political prisoner Andro Chichinadze, the United National Movement would raise the issue of Mikheil Saakashvili as a political prisoner in the political arena – how can you imagine this? This makes any unity with the United National Movement impossible. This is a fight. We have planned it this way, and we’re following this plan – fighting against the regime, against Ivanishvili.
These people themselves aren’t settled in their positions. One day they talk about unification, then about coordination, and on the third day – about something incomprehensible. If this is a problem of their inconsistency, it’s their problem. We have always presented ourselves with a consistent and principled position. Let those who previously fought side by side, were together, and fought for something unite themselves. They say this is their path of struggle. Let them go ahead and unite,” stated Beka Liluashvili.
