Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Gakharia discussed the National Vaccination Plan implementation at a meeting with the special commission set up to ensure the smooth vaccination process.
The government administration reports that Georgia will receive the first 29,250 doses of the Pfizer vaccine by the end of February.
In the first stage, the hospital sector will get the first shots. For the moment, ten hospitals and an additional five reserve clinics have been selected in three major cities of Georgia, where up to 40 brigades will be responsible for the vaccination.
The head of the National Center for Disease Control and Public Health explained at the meeting, 40 brigades would be able to inoculate up to 1,000 people a day, which means that vaccination of 14 thousand medical staff with the first Pfizer doses would take about two weeks.
The National Vaccination Plan targets to inoculate 60% of the population with the Covid-19 vaccine in 2021. Vaccination is voluntary.
