Ex-President Saakashvili vows to continue fighting for life, for Georgia, for Ukraine, as legal procedure in Strasbourg continues

“The legal procedure in Strasbourg continues, and I continue to fight for my life, for Georgia, for Ukraine,” says former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili on social media.

As Saakashvili pointed out, all of his supporters and all rational people should acknowledge that he has been tortured for over two years.

“The legal procedure in Strasbourg is still ongoing. My battle for life, Georgia, and Ukraine, is far from over. I want all of my supporters and, more broadly, all people with common sense to understand that they have been torturing me for over two years now on wholly false accusations against me, even though I am completely innocent.

My only crime was to build a real state under Russia’s nose and drive it firmly toward the European Union and NATO. Everything is now in serious jeopardy, which is why I’m in prison at Putin’s command.

Georgians throughout the world, and especially in Georgia, speak out against this injustice!

I have spent my entire life fighting for Georgia’s freedom, and I urge Georgia to raise its voice even louder for the release of me, Nika, Lazare, and all others unjustly imprisoned.

Foreign countries cannot perform our tasks! The West and the free world will only come to our aid if they witness our unwavering battle. I am confident that Georgia will not rely solely on Ukraine,” said Saakashvili.

The Justice Minister of Georgia stated at a briefing on Friday that the ECHR ruled against former President Mikheil Saakashvili’s plea, having denied his transfer to Warsaw for treatment and not instructing the state to transfer him to another treatment facility within the country.
