“We need to actively engage with the public, which has clearly said it doesn’t want any elections in Tbilisi—70% are against it,” said Elene Khoshtaria, leader of Droa.
She responded to a sociological survey showing that 54% of respondents support opposition participation in the 2025 local elections.
“The only way to defeat the Russian Dream is to deny its legitimacy and refuse all cooperation. That is the essence of resistance—and the reason coalition leaders are behind bars. How can someone be imprisoned for refusing to attend a commission, yet then consider participating in local elections, effectively legitimizing a process dictated by Bidzina Ivanishvili? This is a matter of principle. I hope the opposition unites around it. Calling this a boycott is misleading—there are no real elections to boycott. Our focus must be on engaging with the public, which has already made its position clear,” Khoshtaria said.
