The Georgian Presidential Administration says that discussions of prisoners’ cases for pardoning have not been resumed yet.

The Presidential Administration denied the released information alleging that President might pardon Archpriest Giorgi Mamaladze, charged for having attempted to poison a high-ranking church official with cyanide, on November 23.

“Such fake news aim at misleading the public and represent one of the means of an attempt to pressure president,” the Administration said and added that work on new rules for pardoning procedure was still ongoing.

President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili declared a moratorium on Pardoning of convicts on September 18. The General Prosecutor’s Office launched an investigation into the pardoning of convicts by President Salome Zurabishvili on September 20 on charge of the alleged abuse of power in the pardoning procedure.

President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili pardoned 34 prisoners in connection with Virgin Mary Day on August 28 including three convicts charged for the murder and one person wanted by law enforcers.
